Staying at this hotel during the Cervantino festival, when the rest of the town was fully booked, had its advantages and drawbacks. The rooms, although spacious, lacked hot water entirely. The location was ideal for exploring Guanajuato without a car, being only 10 minutes from the city centre, but the steep hill it's positioned on can be a downside. The service was a mix of friendliness and inconvenience, as the owner didn't apologize for a payment mishap. The dining experience offered a homemade soup in the morning, but it was not up to par with what was listed during booking.
The hotel offers spacious rooms, but they have dirty windows that make it hard to see outside clearly. The lack of curtains on the big windows lets in too much sunlight early in the morning, making it difficult to sleep. The bedding is not up to standard, with only three very small pillows in bad condition. Additionally, the TV is small and far away, impacting the overall room experience negatively.
The hotel was not inviting and lacked basics for the price of USD149, but it's in a great location close to the city center. The steep hill can be a downside, though.
